Request a QuoteProduct Overview
Sodium Hyaluronate High Molecular Weight (1,500-2,000 K Da) is the largest molecular weight grade of hyaluronic acid sodium salt. With its exceptionally long polysaccharide chains, high MW HA forms a breathable, viscoelastic film on the skin surface, delivering powerful immediate surface hydration, superior thickening and rheology modification, and enhanced trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL) reduction. It is the most widely used hyaluronate grade for high-end cosmetic creams, serums, lotions, and facial masks.
In food applications, high MW sodium hyaluronate serves as a premium dietary supplement ingredient supporting joint lubrication and skin hydration from within. UPOR Biotech manufactures this product under strict c-GMP and ISO 9001 conditions with full lot traceability, COA, MSDS, and regulatory support documentation.

Key Benefits — High MW Sodium Hyaluronate
Superior Film-Forming
Forms a breathable, protective viscoelastic film on the skin surface that locks in moisture and shields against environmental aggressors. The exceptionally long polymer chains create a 3D network unmatched by lower MW grades.
TEWL ReductionExcellent Thickening & Rheology
Provides outstanding viscosity build and gel texture at low concentrations (0.1-0.5%). Enhances product sensory properties — gives creams a rich, luxurious feel and excellent spreadability.
Texture EnhancementIntense Surface Hydration
Binds up to 1,000 times its weight in water. Delivers immediate, visible skin plumping and smoothing on the skin surface. Ideal for “instant effect” cosmetic formulations.
1000x Water BindingCertified Quality
Manufactured under strict c-GMP conditions with full lot traceability. USP/EP compliant. Complete regulatory documentation package (COA, MSDS, TSE/BSE statement, stability data) with every shipment.
c-GMPApplications
Face Creams & Lotions
Primary thickener and film-forming moisturizer. Provides rich texture, spreadability, and surface hydration at 0.1-0.5%.
Serums & Ampoules
Delivers instant visible skin plumping and smoothing. Creates a silky, non-tacky finish on skin.
Sheet Masks
Key active ingredient in hydrogel and essence-type facial masks. Forms the hydrated film structure.
Hair Care
Film-forming conditioner for shampoos, conditioners, and leave-in treatments. Smooths hair cuticles.
Dietary Supplements
Functional food ingredient for joint health capsules and beauty-from-within nutraceuticals.
Sun Care
Water-resistant film former in sunscreen formulations. Enhances SPF longevity on skin.
Molecular Weight Comparison — HA Grades
| Grade | Molecular Weight | Primary Function | Skin Penetration |
|---|---|---|---|
| High MW (this product) | 1,500-2,000 K Da | Film-forming, thickening, surface hydration | Surface only (stratum corneum) |
| Medium MW | 1,000-1,500 K Da | Moisturizing, moderate thickening | Upper epidermis |
| Low MW | 400-1,000 K Da | Deep hydration, anti-wrinkle | Deeper epidermis |
| Extra Low MW | 100-400 K Da | Deep skin penetration, firming | Epidermis-dermis junction |
| Super Low MW | 20-50 K Da | Transdermal delivery, plumping | Dermis |
| Oligo HA | 7-10 K Da | Cellular signaling, wound healing | Deep dermis |
Frequently Asked Questions
High MW sodium hyaluronate (1,500-2,000 K Da) is used as a film-forming moisturizer, thickener, and rheology modifier in cosmetic creams, serums, lotions, and masks. It stays on the skin surface, forming a protective, breathable barrier that reduces water loss. In food, it is used as a dietary supplement ingredient for joint health.
0.1-1.0% by weight, with 0.3-0.5% being the most common range. At 0.5%, high MW HA forms a viscous, film-forming gel. Due to its high molecular weight, it should be dispersed slowly with high-shear mixing and allowed to fully hydrate (typically 2-4 hours) for optimal viscosity development.
Our sodium hyaluronate is manufactured under ISO 9001:2015, c-GMP, FDA-registered, HALAL, KOSHER, and COSMOS-certified conditions. All products meet USP and EP standards. Full documentation (COA, MSDS, TSE/BSE, stability data) is provided with each shipment.
No — the large molecular size (1,500-2,000 K Da) prevents penetration beyond the stratum corneum. This is by design: high MW HA functions as a surface film-former and moisturizer. For deeper penetration, we recommend our lower molecular weight grades (see comparison table above). Many formulators combine high MW HA (surface film) with low MW HA (deeper delivery) for comprehensive multi-level hydration.
Store at 15-25°C in a dry, dark place. Keep containers sealed to prevent moisture absorption (HA is hygroscopic). Shelf life is 2-3 years under proper storage conditions. Once dissolved in water, use within 24-48 hours or add appropriate preservatives.
